OBJECTIVE
The objective of the course is to understand the rural life of India their settlement pattern and the traditional construction techniques being incorporated. The Study should include the Anthropometric for the disabled persons. The study should be conducted under the broad heading Barrier Free Environment.

CONTENTS
UNIT – I (08-weeks)
Study of Vernacular settlement with emphasis on contextual architecture, socio-economic Characteristics, climate, geomorphic factors, local materials, building techniques, spatial analysis etc. Design exercise based upon study of above vernacular settlement.

UNIT – II (4-weeks)
Design of Office complex, Guest house/Motel, Museum, District Library etc.

NOTE:
Two design problems to be completed in this semester. The concerned faculty is required to frame a detailed programme for each of the above design problems and time problem with reference to the above contents.

OBJECTIVES
To familiarize the students with methods of detailing different parts of building in RCC..

CONTENTS

UNIT l (Time-nine weeks)
Introduction to RCC framed structure.
RCC Foundations in framed structure.
Different type of RCC roofs such as Flat (one way, two way & continuous), conical & circular slabs. Introduction to formwork. Detailed studies of various types of formwork for concrete, Scaffolding and temporary supports and Shoring & Underpinning RCC staircase such as dog legged, open well.

UNIT ll (Time- four weeks)
Introduction to various types of floor finishes such as P.V.C. sheets, Tiles, Carpets, Veneers etc. Detailed drawings of their fixing details. Introduction to Cladding materials of Interior and Exterior walls in various materials such as Brick tiles, Stones, Vitreous tiles, Paneling etc. Detailed drawings of their fixing details.

UNIT lll (Time-one week)
Introduction to various materials like P.V.C. Fiber based product, etc. Detailed studies such as properties and application of the same in building industry.

NOTE:
The time mentioned at the end of each of the above units indicates the tentative time taken to complete each. The marks for sessional work may be divided accordingly.
